Relationship Consulting in Glasgow and Online

Break the cycle. Choose yourself.

Understand the Pattern. Improve the Relationship. Make Clearer Choices.

Relationships can become difficult when communication breaks down, the same disagreements keep happening, trust has been affected or you are no longer sure what you want from the relationship.

Relationship Consulting with The Missing Piece gives you a structured space to step back, understand what is happening and look at the patterns affecting your relationship.

The focus is on clearer communication, healthier boundaries, understanding recurring difficulties and making practical changes that can improve the way you relate to each other.

You can work with me individually or as a couple, depending on your situation and what you want to work on.

When Relationship Consulting May Help

Relationship consulting may be helpful if you are:

  • Struggling to communicate without arguments or misunderstandings
  • Having the same disagreements repeatedly
  • Finding it difficult to express your needs
  • Unsure how to set or maintain healthy boundaries
  • Trying to rebuild trust after difficulties
  • Finding it difficult to handle conflict constructively
  • Unsure what you want from a relationship
  • Thinking about whether to stay, leave or make changes
  • Wanting to improve a relationship before difficulties become more difficult to manage

The purpose of relationship consulting is not to make the decision for you. It is to help you understand the situation clearly enough to make your own informed choice.

Understanding Your Relationship Patterns

Sometimes the same difficulties appear again and again.

You may have the same argument, avoid certain conversations, struggle to communicate what you need or find yourself accepting situations that no longer work for you.

Relationship consulting can help you step back from the immediate situation and look at what is happening more clearly.

Together, we can explore:

  • What keeps creating the same difficulties
  • How you communicate during disagreements
  • What you need from the relationship
  • Where boundaries may be unclear
  • How expectations are affecting the relationship
  • What each person may be contributing to the current pattern
  • What could realistically change

The focus is on understanding the pattern rather than simply reacting to the latest disagreement.

Communication and Conflict

Disagreement is a normal part of relationships. The difficulty can come when conversations repeatedly become arguments, are avoided completely or leave both people feeling unheard.

Relationship consulting can help you look at how conversations develop and consider different ways of approaching difficult subjects.

This may include:

  • Expressing your needs more clearly
  • Listening without immediately becoming defensive
  • Discussing difficult subjects more constructively
  • Recognising repeated communication patterns
  • Understanding where conversations tend to break down
  • Setting clearer boundaries
  • Working towards practical agreements

The aim is not to avoid every disagreement. It is to help you communicate more clearly when disagreements happen.

Boundaries and Trust

Boundaries can become unclear when you have spent a long time trying to keep a relationship working.

You may find yourself saying yes when you mean no, avoiding important conversations or accepting situations that leave you unhappy or uncertain.

Consulting gives you space to understand your own limits, communicate them more clearly and consider what needs to change.

Where trust has been affected, the focus can be on understanding what has happened, what each person needs and whether there are realistic steps that could help rebuild trust.

Working Together as a Couple

Couples can use relationship consulting as a structured space to discuss issues that have become difficult to resolve alone.

Sessions may focus on:

  • Understanding recurring disagreements
  • Improving communication
  • Identifying relationship patterns
  • Clarifying expectations and needs
  • Discussing boundaries
  • Understanding the impact of broken trust
  • Agreeing practical changes to work on between sessions
  • Reviewing what has changed between sessions

The purpose is not to decide who is right or wrong.

It is to create a clearer understanding of what is happening in the relationship and identify what both people can realistically work on.

Individual Relationship Consulting

You do not have to attend as a couple.

Individual relationship consulting can be useful if you are trying to understand your own situation, make sense of repeated relationship patterns or work out what you want from a relationship.

You may be thinking about:

  • Staying in the relationship
  • Leaving the relationship
  • Rebuilding trust
  • Improving communication
  • Setting clearer boundaries
  • Understanding what has changed
  • Deciding what you want to do next

The work gives you space to look honestly at your situation without being told what decision you should make.

Making Relationship Decisions

Sometimes the hardest part is knowing what you actually want.

You may feel pulled in different directions, especially when a relationship has a long history or important decisions are involved.

Relationship consulting can help you separate the different parts of the situation, understand what matters to you and consider your options more clearly.

The purpose of relationship consulting is not to make the decision for you. It is to help you understand the situation clearly enough to make your own informed choice.

What Happens During Relationship Consulting?

  1. Understand – We look at what is happening in your relationship and what has brought you to consulting.
  1. Identify – We explore the communication difficulties, recurring patterns, boundaries, trust issues or decisions that need attention.
  1. Focus – We identify what you would like to understand, change or work towards.
  1. Take Action – You agree practical steps that fit your situation and can be worked on between sessions.
  1. Review – The next session gives you an opportunity to look at what happened, what changed and what still needs attention.

This keeps the work connected from one session to the next, with a clear focus on practical progress.

Relationship Consulting or Personal Development?

The two services can sometimes overlap, but their main focus is different.

Relationship Consulting focuses specifically on relationships, including communication, recurring patterns, boundaries, trust, conflict and relationship decisions.

Personal Development Coaching is broader and focuses more on identity, personal standards, life direction, decision-making and wider personal growth.

If your main concern is speaking up, people-pleasing, setting boundaries or becoming more confident in expressing your needs, Empowerment Coaching may be more suitable.

If you mainly need space to talk about feeling overwhelmed, anxious or emotionally exhausted and understand what you are experiencing, Mental Health Support may be a better starting point.

A Note About Scope

Relationship consulting is a coaching and consulting service. It is not couples therapy, psychotherapy, psychiatric care or a substitute for clinical treatment.

If you are experiencing abuse, immediate danger, serious mental health difficulties or a situation requiring specialist professional intervention, appropriate qualified or emergency support should be sought.

Life coaching is a forward-focused, action-oriented partnership. It helps you identify your goals, overcome obstacles, and create sustainable change in your life. You bring the drive — I bring the structure, accountability, and real-world experience to help you get where you want to be.

Coaching is collaborative — you’re the expert on your life, and I’m here to ask the right questions, offer perspective, and help you unlock your own solutions. Expect honest conversations, practical strategies, and someone who holds you accountable to the goals you set.

The first session is about getting to know each other and understanding where you are right now. We’ll discuss what brought you here, what you’re hoping to achieve, and whether coaching is the right fit for you. There’s no pressure — it’s a conversation. If we both feel it’s a good match, we’ll outline a coaching plan tailored to your goals.

Absolutely not. You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit from coaching. Whether you’re recovering from a difficult breakup, rebuilding after addiction, working through relationship challenges, or simply wanting to level up your life — coaching can help. The best time to start is when you recognise something needs to change and you’re ready to do the work.

This varies depending on your goals and commitment level. Some people notice shifts in perspective within the first few sessions. Others see tangible changes — better relationships, improved fitness, career progress — within 4-8 weeks of consistent work. The key is showing up, being honest, and taking action between sessions. Coaching works fastest when you’re actively engaged.

Yes, all coaching sessions are available online via video call, making it accessible whether you’re in Scotland or anywhere in the world.
